Serving 9,000 electricity customers and nearly 6,000 natural gas customers in Michigan is Xcel Energy. This includes solar energy, which as been increasing 4x since 2011.  Because of Michigan’s large number of waterways, hydroelectric production has also been at the forefront of Xcel’s renewable energy sources. And as a national leader in wind power for over a decade, Xcel’s wind projects have increase seven-fold since 2005—accounting for 20% of the company’s energy mix.

According to United States Energy Information Administration (USEIA), Michigan is a very energy-rich state, with a diverse set of output and production. For instance, the Antrim Gas Field (located in the state’s Lower Peninsula) is among country’s top 100 natural gas fields, with most of Michigan’s 101 billion cubic feet of gas produced in 2016 coming from that field. Michigan also boasts 3 nuclear power plants, with a total of 4 reactor units, which provided nearly 30% of the state’s electricity generation in 2017. Michigan has also seen its energy mix turn away from its reliance on coal (37% in 2017), which is down from 50% in 2014. Last, renewables have been staking a larger claim in how Michigan generates electricity in 2017, with wind, solar, biomass, and hydroelectric power accounted for 8% of the ‘s net electricity generation.

How does Arcadia Power help me pay my Xcel Energy bill more efficiently?

When you enroll in Bill Pay, Arcadia Power will receive your Xcel Energy bill and we will send you one statement. This makes how you pay Xcel Energy bills easier.

However, if you aren’t enrolled in Arcadia Power’s Bill Pay program, you will continue to receive your Xcel Energy utility bills Additionally, if you receive separate utility bills for gas, water, or sewage, those bills from your Xcel Energy (and other utilities) will continue to come in the mail.

If you’re curious, here’s how the process works:

Your Xcel Energy bill is sent directly to Arcadia Power.

We email you a statement that includes your utility bill charge, your clean energy and overall energy usage, and savings credits or charges from any Arcadia Power programs you are enrolled in.

Three days after we send your statement, we charge the payment method you provided to make sure your electric bill is paid on time, every time. And since you’re set up for autopay, you won’t need to do a thing.
